Victoria Griffin...was born in March of 1972 to a Finnish mother and an American father. She was raised among the mountains of the southeastern United States and spent many of her childhood summers and winter holidays visiting with her mother's family in Finland. Mainly a self-taught artist, Victoria embarked upon her creative explorations at a very early age (occasionally to be spotted scribbling on walls hidden behind doors). Tales of fantasy and folklore fueled her life-long facination with the paranormal and metaphysical realm. The creatures of Faerie soon became her Muses and the main focus of her art has been to offer others a glimpse beyond the Veil and into their world. She works primarily with ink, watercolors, graphite and colored pencil to create her images. Her artwork appeared on the covers of "Aquarius: A Sign of The Times" and "The Circle of Stones Journal". It can also be seen in the books 500 Fairy Motifs and Visions of Atlantis (both published in 2005), as well as the book Art of the Business of Fantasy Art: Volume I (published in 2007) and several coloring books. Another image was recently published on the cover of the fourth edition of the science book Information Resources in Toxicology (2009). Aside from her art, Victoria is also a photographer, published poet and former radio disc-jockey. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, beach-combing, music, collecting tarot decks and jesters, star-gazing and blogging. She currently lives in Oconee County, SC with a tall scruffy man-beast named Jerold, three spoiled kitties (Athena, Bronte and Pandora), one little ferret (Noodle), a fat lil' bunny (Raisin), three snakes (Voodoo, Faust and Bella) and a cranky bearded dragon (Norbert). When asked if she actually believed in Faeries, Victoria replied: "At least once every alternating Tuesday." Tumblr DeviantArt [ home ] |
